In July 2011, BENCHMARQUE was successfully appointed the exclusive recruitment partner for the provision of specialised labour hire services to The Star’s Sydney's signature restaurants and nightclub. On the back of repeatedly successful projects for these new venues, BENCHMARQUE’s contract with The Star was extended in October 2012 to include The Star Event Centre.
The Event Centre is located on the rooftop of The Star Sydney with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. The $100m Event Centre is a multi-purpose venue suitable for a wide variety of events. Recognised as an industry leading and fully integrated audio visual, lighting and production space, The Event Centre production consists of not only the highest calibre of equipment but also delivers a world class service standard through the expertise of dedicated hospitality contractors.
Project kick-off: 26th October 2012
Preopening: 10th December 2012
Public opening: 31st December 2012
Project Targets: 90 on-hire labour employees
Specific hospitality positions: Event Attendants, F&B Attendants, Bar Attendants, Bar Porters, Housemen
What we did:
We were responsible for end-to-end recruitment and the subsequent hiring of 90+ on-hire casual staff. Including job advertising, initial phone screening, two stages of group interviews involving skills assessment and individual performance grading.
Ongoing, we continue to manage fluctuating requests for assessed and compliant workers through our agile hiring process, including the entire recruitment process, payroll outsourcing and human resources/scheduling functions for up to 120 staff required by this venue on any single day.
For three consecutive years (2015, 2016 & 2017), The Star Event Centre has been successful in winning The Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) National Award for Best Specialty Event Venue, and the State Award for Best In-house Audio Visual.
The Star is also a business partner of Professional Conference Organisers Association. (PCO).
We are coming up on 4 years working together and I wanted to send my thanks to the entire team for all the hard work.
